Account Executive

Possible locations for this position: Berkeley, CA / Washington, DC

Our Account Executives provide strategic leadership for direct marketing fundraising programs with nonprofit organizations who are our clients. They serve as the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of several clients, and work within a team to deliver direct marketing fundraising programs.

Core responsibilities:

  • Work with Account Lead to develop and execute year-long direct marketing fundraising schedules
  • Provide strategic oversight of client direct marketing fundraising programs
  • Guide production management and design process for projects
  • Prepare and secure strategy documents and budget approvals for projects
  • Create and review strategies and annual plans with clients
  • Develop and execute year-long direct marketing schedules
  • Draft appeal letters and/or work with copywriters to draft content
  • Work with clients to identify topics, issues, and projects for fundraising appeals
  • Work with list brokers to develop lists
  • Develop up-sell/cross-sell strategies
  • Travel several times a year to meet with clients
  • Assist with new business proposals and presentations

Required qualifications:

  • 7 1/2 to 9 years relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising and/or advocacy
  • Strong knowledge of direct marketing and individual donor fundraising
  • Focused attention to detail and ability to create outstanding messaging
  • Excellent organizational and project/time management skills
  • Excellent proof reading skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Account Coordinator

Possible locations for this position: Berkeley, CA / Washington, DC

The ideal candidate works as a part of a team assisting with or leading many aspects of client work and project management. The ideal candidate is someone who both works well independently and is a strong team player.

Core responsibilities:

  • Monitor client deliverables and proactively keep projects on schedule
  • Draft preliminary strategy documents and client memos
  • Create package specifications and budgets, and bid out print jobs
  • Create purchase orders, personalization, and mailshop instructions
  • Proof copy and art, and ensure timely approvals from client
  • Draft preliminary direct mail list orders and order internal mailing lists from clients
  • Perform regular client reporting
  • Gather information, coordinate and prepare client summary reports

Required qualifications:

  • 2+ years relevant industry work experience
  • Agency experience is a huge plus!
  • Direct mail fundraising experience is ideal
  • Excellent organizational and project/time management skills -- must be able to handle 15- 20 concurrent projects

Online Account Executive

Possible locations for this position: Berkeley, CA / Washington, DC

Our Online Account Executives work as part of an account team assisting with or leading many aspects of client work and project management.

Core responsibilities:

  • Working with the account lead to develop and implement online fundraising/advocacy campaigns with specific benchmarks and deliverables, including email newsletters and solicitations, fundraising appeals, advocacy campaigns and more
  • Assisting with creative services, including writing/editing Web fundraising copy, promotional copy and email newsletters and solicitations
  • Coordinating email message production and implementation with internal departments and clients
  • Implementing and overseeing message and landing page setup in the client+s eCRM platform
  • Working with Director of Research and Analytics to pull messaging data and other metrics
  • Monitoring message performance after a launch and doing preliminary analysis for client report-back
  • Helping prepare presentations and reports before in-person client meetings as needed, with guidance from the account lead

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in one of the following areas of work: advocacy, fundraising, electoral campaigning, project management, event planning, Internet marketing, direct response
  • Terrific project management skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Excellent communicator, strong writer and speaker
  • Self-starter, good at working independently
  • Flexible, able to meet short deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in online fundraising, e-mail marketing and advocacy
  • Excellent computer skills — Word, Excel, database, Internet
  • Technology-oriented, with the ability and desire to understand how online fundraising, marketing and advocacy technology works (Note: This is not a Web development position.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Luminate, Salsa, Net Community, Engaging Networks or similar
  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising or advocacy
  • Basic HTML and other web tools experience
  • Previous experience in a client service role
  • Experience with online advertising a plus

Junior Web Developer

Possible locations for this position: Berkeley, CA / Washington, DC

Our Junior Web Developer works as part of the production team assisting with many aspects of email implementation and web development projects. The Junior Web Developer will work with the Development team to code email messages, and develop web pages, micro-sites, social media apps and more.

Core responsibilities:

  • Slicing and optimizing Photoshop comps
  • Coding emails and updating landing pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Becoming familiar with navigating the tools of our client eCRM and ESP systems
  • Other duties to support design and production staff

Required qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years’ relevant work experience
  • Expert in hand coding HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Ability to code cutting-edge designs in a responsive manner that validate and follow accessibility guidelines
  • Ability to code table-based designs with inline CSS for use in emails using fluid-hybrid techniques.
  • Ability to use Photoshop to slice and optimize files from our web designer
  • Use of JavaScript frameworks or libraries such as jQuery
  • Skillful in the use of JSON/AJAX and DOM techniques
  • Ability to code and QA sites that work well across browsers and platforms
  • Ability to code and QA emails that work well across clients and platforms
  • Excellent coding and debugging skills!
  • Must be resourceful

  • Strong knowledge of PHP or another server side language, such as using PHP for templating, and for storing and retrieving data from MySQL databases
